Keyboardio Model 100

Keyboardio Model 100 Review - Underappreciated, but not for everyone

I spent time reviewing the Keyboardio Model 100, a split ergonomic keyboard with a unique wooden design. The standout feature wasn't actually the butterfly-shaped wooden body, but rather the meticulously sculpted keycaps. Each keycap was specifically designed for finger position and comfort, with longer keys for pinky reaches and shorter ones in the middle. The keyboard came with thoughtful details like additional home row nibs for better navigation and specially rounded thumb keys. The software was quite capable, especially with its mouse control features, though it lacked some timing customization options. While the palm buttons didn't work well for me and I had some concerns about the body design, the overall typing experience was surprisingly comfortable.

Pros

  • Uniquely sculpted keycaps that really enhance typing comfort and navigation
  • Four easily accessible thumb keys per hand
  • Excellent mouse control functionality in the software
  • Hot-swappable switches for customization

Cons

  • Palm buttons can be awkward and uncomfortable
  • Relatively thick keyboard body that can be problematic with desk setup
  • Limited timing customization options in the software
  • Tenting solution is bad unless you swap it with your own
